Course Description

  • The Master of Applied Econometrics will provide a comprehensive curriculum covering core microeconomics and macroeconomics, and a suite of econometrics offerings including time series analysis, financial econometrics, micro econometrics, macro econometrics, and structural econometrics modeling

  • The Master of Applied Econometrics program consists of 16 semester-length subjects comprising:
    • 5 core subjects (62.5pts)
    • 5 electives (62.5pts)
    • 2 capstone subjects (25pts)
  • Aimed at students with a background in economics, analytics, or mathematics (including some statistics), the Master of Applied Econometrics is a three-semester program that focuses on the practical application of advanced econometric modeling techniques

  • This course will provide students the econometric expertise to answer real-world economic questions, while also providing the flexibility to specialize in areas relating to students career goals

  • As a graduate, students will have expertise in explaining, applying, and critically evaluating the use of econometric models for forecasting, assessing different economic policy and decision making options

Academic Requirements

In order to be considered for entry, students must have completed:

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree with a strong analytical or mathematical component and with a weighted average mark of at least H2A (75%)

  • A statement of intent outlining why students wish to be considered for the course; and

  • The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) unless students have completed an undergraduate degree in Australia or New Zealand or met one of the approved conditions for GRE exemption
