Course Description

  • ​Students study the Earth and how it interacts with the atmosphere, oceans, and biosphere, making environmental geoscience one of our most diverse scientific programs
  • Environmental Geoscience is available at both the BSc and BSc (honours) level
  • The university's curriculum allows students to achieve registration as a professional environmental geoscientist which includes a core of courses at the first and second year levels in common with geology majors, and diverges at the third year level to incorporate courses in geochemistry, geophysics, hydrogeology, and environmental science
  • Environmental Geoscience requires multidisciplinary study, which ensures students will acquire a wide range of expertise
  • Students will learn about the dynamics and history of the planet, and how they impact the environmental, energy and mining industries, both within Canada and abroad

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements
To be considered for admission using the IB Diploma, students need a minimum score of 24. If students have a score of 30 or higher on their IB Diploma, they will receive 30 hours of university credit. If students have completed IB courses but do not possess the diploma, they will be considered based on their coursework. Acadia gives individual credit for IB courses completed at the higher level with grades of 5, 6, or 7. IB final and predicted results may be used to consider applicants for both early fall and regular admission, as well as for an entrance scholarship.
