Course Description
- Accredited by the Chartered Institute for IT (BCS), Ulster’s BEng (Hons) Software Engineering helps students study the theory and principles of programming and software development and put them into practice using a variety of contemporary programming languages and tools
- Students develop programming expertise in a variety of languages including Python and Java and examine areas such as Database Systems, Computer Technologies, Computer Networks, Systems Security, Full Stack Strategies and Development, Algorithms and Data Structures, Software Reliability Engineering, and Software Engineering Management
- The curriculum offers study modules such as Programming, Database Systems, Systems Software, Computer Networks, Software Development Practice, Cloud Native Development, Software Reliability Engineering, and Project
- Students have the opportunity to undertake a placement year to gain professional experience, develop professional/international contacts, and increase their employability
- After graduation, students find employment in various industries and companies including BT, CITI, Kainos, Liberty IT, Whitehat Security, PWC, and Allstate NI and play professional roles such as software engineers, systems developers, application security specialists, technical analysts, web developers, quality assurance engineers, and consultants
