Course Description

• Since Walter Miller and John Pickard began lecturing on campus in the 1890s, the University of Missouri has played a significant role in the education of the visual arts in North America
• The School of Visual Studies provides graduate degrees in Visual Studies that combine disciplinary instruction in art history, material culture, and media studies with an emphasis on public humanities
• The MA and PhD programs prepare students for careers in a variety of educational institutions, cultural organizations, and the creative economy in general through a combination of coursework, outreach, research, and teaching opportunities, and interdisciplinary collaboration with scholars from other fields and professional programs
• The MA begins with a month of 9-credit hour coursework at Oxford University
• Students will reside and eat at Corpus Christi College's graduate housing, which was built in 1517
