Overview

Macquarie University is a research focused public university in Sydney, Australia. It was the third university to be in the metropolitan area in 1964 by the New South Wales Government. The main campus is close to Macquarie Park. There are four faculties:

  • Arts
  • Macquarie Business School
  • Medicine, Health and Human Sciences
  • Science and Engineering

 
Macquarie University has two residential colleges founded in 1972. There is a Macquarie University Village which has over 900 rooms which are townhouse-style buildings to the north of the campus. The research centers, schools, and institutes that are affiliated with the university:

  • The Australian Research Institute for Environment and Sustainability 
  • The Macquarie University Hospital
  • The Australian Hearing Hub
  • Macquarie Graduate School of Management

Macquarie University is the fourth-largest university in Sydney. It has invested over AU$1 billion in facilities and infrastructure. The University has a total enrollment of 40,209 students of which 8,600+ are international. It also offers excellent sports facilities to students which are the greatest in the country. The university has many alumni including:
Jim Soorley (Australian politician and former Lord Mayor of Brisbane)
