Course Description

  • ​The Master of Conference Interpreting will enable students to develop the specialized cognitive and practical skills required for conference interpreting
  • This course involves interpreting source speeches in simultaneous or consecutive modes while preserving the meaning, tone, and nuances of the original speaker 
  • Students will learn how to undertake effective research to inform your interpreting in a range of high-level scientific, diplomatic and technical domains 
  • On successful completion of the course, students will be able to identify, analyze and solve major problems that take place in professional practice using acquired problem-solving skills 
  • This degree is designed in consultation with industry and is suited to: 
    • highly proficient bilinguals
    • practicing professional interpreters 
    • those who wish to work as professional conference interpreters

Academic Requirements

For 2 years (full-time, or equivalent duration if available part-time):

  • ​AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognized equivalent with a WAM of 65, and
  •  Proficiency in one of the available languages, and
  • For students whose first language is English, completion of an admission assessment
