Course Description

  • The ANU Bachelor of Criminology program draws attention to the social dimensions of crime and deviancy and assesses the effectiveness and implications of crime control measures
  • Students will develop an understanding of a range of issues in contemporary criminology including definitions and representations of crime, victimization, policing, the criminal justice system, transnational crime, and restorative justice
  • Students will learn about the drivers of crime and how society responds to it
  • The breadth of knowledge that students learn can be applied to many different industries and institutions. Graduates may find work in government, intelligence, correctional services, social work, journalism and policy making
  • The Bachelor of Criminology requires completion of 144 units, of which:
    A maximum of 60 units may come from completion of 1000-level courses​

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

An Australian year 12 qualification or international equivalent; OR At least one standard full-time year in a single program of degree-level study at an Australian higher education institution or international equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Students will need to provide an academic transcript that shows that they have completed their secondary studies
  • If official qualification documents related to an Application for Admission are not in English, the applicant must supply the following documents (scan and attach to application):
    The original language transcript of studies showing subjects and results
    The original language award certificate
    An English translation of these documents
    A copy of the grading scale​
