Course Description
- The Master of Laws program offers students the flexibility to complete their studies in a way that suits them. Courses are delivered in a variety of modes – semester length, online or in a shorter ‘intensive’ format
- This highly valuable qualification deepens student's understanding of the way diplomacy and law operate in, and interact with, the modern world and equips them with skills and knowledge for the 21st century job market
- The program involves five specializations:
Human Security Law
International Law
New Technologies Law
Private Commercial Law
Public Law - Upon completion, students will join a prestigious and highly recognised alumni network of over 19,000 professionals in Australia and around the globe
- The Master of Laws requires the completion of 48 units, which must consist of:
6 units completion of Law and Legal Institutions course
A minimum of 30 units from completion of 8000-level courses in the subject area LAWS Law
A maximum of 12 units from completion of advanced legal practice courses in the subject area LEGM Legal Practice MLP, or
A maximum of 12 units from completion of any 8000-level postgraduate course on offer at the ANU

Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
- A Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Juris Doctor, Graduate Certificate of Law or Bachelor Degree in any cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 5.0, or
- Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Juris Doctor, Graduate Certificate of Law or Bachelor Degree in any cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0 plus 2 years of relevant professional experience
Additional Requirements
- Proof of English language proficiency score
- Students will need to provide an academic transcript that shows that they have completed their secondary studies
- If official qualification documents related to an Application for Admission are not in English, the applicant must supply the following documents (scan and attach to application):
The original language transcript of studies showing subjects and results
The original language award certificate
An English translation of these documents
A copy of the grading scale
