Overview

Brandon University is a primarily undergraduate university focused on liberal arts and sciences in Manitoba, Canada. Founded by the Baptist Union of Western Canada in 1889, the university had affiliations with McMaster University. The institute obtained university status through the Brandon University Act in 1967.

This university provides education to nearly 3,000 students including international ones. Five faculties and one school comprise the educational facilities at this institute. These are:

Brandon’s central campus in Manitoba houses students in three gender-inclusive residence halls. Aside from housing facilities, the campus also houses the John E. Robbins Library and S.J. McKee Archives. Recreational facilities including fitness classes, rec & sports clubs, and intramurals are available. Students can participate in over 200 social events and recreational activities. They can also join a number of clubs including:

  • Four religious clubs

In terms of athletics, the BU Bobcats focus on floorball, volleyball, and basketball. Alongside these, other on-campus services include dining, parking, and the Healthy Living Centre. The university also operates multiple research centers and institutes for the development of its students and faculty including:

Brandon University takes pride in its successful line-up of alumni and presents those who have performed outstandingly in their respective fields with awards. The Alumni Association arranges events and activities. The university, in collaboration with the association, provides benefits to the alumni including alumni news magazine subscription, career planning placement services, access to the John E. Robbins Library, and CUCCOA affiliation. Some of the renowned alumni include Henry Champ, Tommy Douglas, Frank McKinnon, H. Pentland, and Neil Robertson.

    • Inclusive to cisgender and trans women as well as non-binary and two-spirit individuals

  • McMaster Hall:
    • Inclusive to all genders
    • Standard, standard plus, and economy single and double room
    • Accommodates up to 270 residents
