Overview

Established in 1999, Canadian Mennonite University is an innovative, private Christian university based in the city of Manitoba, Canada. The university started its journey through the amalgamation of Canadian Mennonite Bible College, Concord College, and Menno Simons College. Many people refer to it as CMU. This institute has affiliations with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), CHEC, and MCAC. The Mennonite Church Canada and the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba support it as well.

CMU currently educates over 600 undergraduate and nearly 80 graduate students. Despite being a fairly new university, students from around the world enroll here. This university’s student population includes international students from 28 countries. The institute offers 19 bachelor’s and five master’s programs. Its standout programs are the ones overseen by:

  • Redekop School of Business 
  • Centre for Career and Vocation
  • Canadian School of Peacebuilding
  • Menno Simons College
  • Community School of Music and the Arts

The university assists students in placements by offering them the Practicum Program. CMU also connects them to over 500 local and international community partners.

Canadian Mennonite University operates a beautiful campus in Winnipeg. This campus comprises well-maintained buildings, walkways, green spaces, and parking areas. CMU provides excellent academic and research facilities. Students can access high-tech laboratories, smart classrooms, and resource centers. Up to 200 students can avail themselves of housing facilities in three residences on-campus. Some of the other facilities available for learning, teaching, and research purposes include:

The university’s athletic teams, the Blazers, compete in soccer, volleyball, and basketball. They participate in various tournaments including the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference.

  • Poettcker Hall:
    • 33 rooms in the women's wing and 24 rooms in the men's wing
    • Rooms have single or double occupanc
    • 15 apartment units including studios and two-bedroom suites
  • Concord Hall:
    • 18 single and 18 double dormitory rooms
    • 24 one-bedroom apartments
  • Katherine Friesen Apartments:
    • 24 apartments
    • Six studio apartments
    • 18 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments
  • All housing options are furnished to some extent
  • Full-board and apartment meal plans are available
