Course Description

  • Students will learn to demonstrate pedagogical strategies in the field of early childhood care and education that are linked to modern theoretical approaches to learning, thinking, and teaching
  • Pupils will collaborate with children, families, coworkers, and the community to deliver caring and educational experiences that are relevant and responsive
  • Students will learn how to use ethical pedagogical approaches that exhibit an awareness and sensitivity to local and global challenges in early childhood education and care
  • Graduates will display mastery of the abilities necessary to be licensed and employed as an Early Childhood Educator in British Columbia via pedagogical practices
  • Courses in the first two years meet the requirements of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) for:
    • ECE Certificate to Practice;
    • Infant/Toddler Certificate to Practice; and/or
    • Special Needs Certificate to Practice

Academic Requirements
  • Basic High school graduation
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 (60%) calculated on English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 and three academic Grade 12 courses
  • Admissions preference may be given to students with Literary Studies 12 as one of the three academic Grade 12 courses ā€‹
