Overview

Located in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Laurentian University is a mid-sized bilingual Canadian public university. Incorporated in 1960, the university also goes by Université Laurentienne or LU. On top of being a primarily undergraduate university, the university is the largest bilingual provider of distance education in the country. Laurentian has affiliations with:

LU currently hosts 6,522 undergraduate and 506 graduate students. Among them, approximately 577 are international while over 1,800 are Francophone students. These students can choose from over 175 programs at graduate, undergraduate, and doctorate levels. The university also offers 59 French-language undergraduate and graduate programs. These courses fall under the following five faculties:

Université Laurentienne’s only campus features high-quality infrastructure and offers excellent academic, residential, and recreational facilities. Students can reside in one of the five halls on the campus grounds. The Equity, Diversity and Human Rights Office on-campus serves all the members of the university’s community. Laurentian offers numerous recreational facilities like swimming lessons, school field trips, and youth and aquatic programmes on-campus. Besides, it provides opportunities to participate in sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, golf, and lacrosse. Students can also join numerous clubs. Laurentian University offers job and internship assistance to its students. Cooperative education is available for the students. The university has a career and business administration office. This office provides students with on-campus jobs, internship opportunities, career fairs, and workshops. LU has created a strong alumni base through its holistic education and student services.
