Overview

Thompson Rivers University is a public research and teaching university. It is in the city of Kamloops in British Columbia, Canada. This university is often referred to as TRU. It got its name from the South and North Thompson rivers in Kamloops. It has been running as an education provider since 1970.
TRU is teaching 140 on-campus programs and 60 online or distance programs. These programs include trades apprenticeships, vocational certificates, and diplomas. Bachelor's and master's degrees and law are also available at TRU. 9 faculties teach the above-mentioned programs. They are:

Thompson Rivers University has two campuses, in Kamloops and William Lake.
The William Lake campus hosts 18 certificate and apprenticeship programs. But the majority of undergraduate and graduate programs are at the Kamloops campus. The Kamloops campus also provides on-campus housing in the North Tower, McGill Residence, and East Village areas. These residences house 800 students collectively. Some of the perks there are outdoor recreation, cosmopolitan centres, and health care. They also provide students with schools, affordable housing, and safe neighbourhoods.
TRU provides education to 25,000 students online and offline. 3,500 of them are international students from over 100 countries. The education nurtures the students in areas like economics, accounting, business administration, adventure studies, chemistry, etc. Options for combined English as a Second Language (ESL), academic studies and transfer credits are also available. It has student support for international students. On-campus medical and counselling services are also accessible. Student success is the priority at Thompson Rivers University.
New students can avail career services, cooperative education, and experiential learning. They can find options to work on and off-campus through the university website. A co-op program is also made available for them. Students can gain career-related work experience before graduation through a paid internship. They also receive scholarships and awards worth $2.5 million each year.
Thompson Rivers University has its own research office. It dedicates itself to make TRU a distinguished research leader. The Research Office shows a commitment to research infrastructure, research facilities, internal research funding, research chairs, knowledge mobilization resources, and student research. As you can tell, research is at the forefront of TRU.

  • There are around 300 self-contained rooms in housing units. These are in three buildings on campus.
  • There are 3 residences: 1. North Tower 2. McGill Residence and 3. East Village.
  • The North Tower has one-bedroom, two-bedroom, two-bedroom deluxe and four-bedroom deluxe suites. It houses 570 students.
  • The McGill Residence has four-bedroom suites and two-bedroom apartments. It houses 302 students.
  • The East Village has four-bedroom suites. It has 250 beds.
  • The facilities include:
