Overview

The University of Saskatchewan is a Canadian public research university in Saskatoon. Founded in 1907 as an agricultural college, this university's establishment occurred to provide facilities for higher education in all its branches to an inclusive community. Currently, many people refer to it as the U of S or USask. This institute is now the largest education institution in the province of Saskatchewan.

The U of S is the education hub for more than 25,700 students. Among them, 6,700 are indigenous and international, making this university the diverse community it sought out to be. The University of Saskatchewan values athletics and sports as well as academics. The school's academic services acknowledge the best Huskie athletes weekly. This encouragement translates to many awards, including 2,550+ All-Stars, 118 Canada West championships, and 32 national championships from its 15 athletic teams.

USask is one of Canada's top research universities. It is also a member of U15, a group of Canadian Research Universities. The university is the best in water resources research in Canada. Innovation Place Research Park is a part of this institute's research program. Its Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization produces DNA-enhanced immunization vaccines for humans and animals. U of S is also the home ground of the Canadian Light Source synchrotron. Sulphate-resistant cement and the cobalt-60 cancer therapy unit are some of the inventions that have come out of the doors of this global leader.

The University of Saskatchewan has 160,000 alumni from across the world. Some of the noteworthy alumni include 72 Rhodes Scholars, 295 Order of Canada recipients, 44 Olympians, two Nobel Prizes in Chemistry, and one Prime Minister, among others.
