Located in Ontario, Canada, the University of Windsor is a public research university founded in 1857. Historians can trace its roots back to Assumption College. The Assumption College merged with a few other universities in 1956 to establish the university that we know today. The University of Windsor took on its present name in 1963 but many people refer to it as U of W or UWindsor.

U of W hosts over 16,000 students annually, 23% of whom are from over 100 countries around the world. This student population can choose from 261 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Nine faculties of this university manage these programs:

This university has made a name for itself in research. Windsor affiliates with eight Canada Research Chairs. The five research centres and institutes under this school are:

  • Institute for Diagnostic Imaging Research
  • WE-Spark Health Institute

U of W also has 37 faculty research centres and institutes. The research focuses on a multitude of areas including COVID-19 research and animal care.

The University of Windsor celebrates the multi-talented group of individuals affiliated with it. Student-athletes get the opportunity to showcase themselves and their accomplishments on the university’s website as well as a website of their own. The Lancer Varsity athletes have a long list of accolades and have brought home many trophies. Students who excel in research earn scholarships, awards, and honours. University Players is a part of the School of Dramatic Art that hosts around six professional plays each year.
