- Neuroscience is interdisciplinary in nature and seeks to merge perspectives from molecular biology, genetics, physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, and biophysics with those of psychology to understand the mechanisms that control behaviour and cognitive function
- Understanding neural processes has applications to a variety of health and psychosocial problems including dementing diseases, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and a wide variety of developmental or drug-induced behavioural and cognitive disorders
