Course Description

  • The degree follows a rich, varied and challenging curriculum, from history to neuroscience, culture to biology, from children to the elderly, from professional skills to statistical and laboratory skills
  • The BA Applied Psychology is accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland, and graduates are eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) with a Second Class Honours or above, or completion of a PSI accredited Psychology Conversion Course with an overall pass mark of 50 percent
  • Students will complete courses that examine psychology from a philosophical and cultural perspective, enhance their critical thinking and scientific communication skills and develop a strong understanding of the main modern fields of psychology
  • More than 90% of the program’s graduates are in employment in a field of psychology or are in postgraduate training
  • The final year of the program entails an independent research project carried out by the student

Academic Requirements

Standard Requirements

  • At least six subjects must be presented
  • Minimum grade H5 in two subjects and minimum grade O6/H7 in four other subjects
  • Minimum entry requirements: English, Irish, Other Language - O6/H7

    Candidates must obtain a pass in at least six subjects, in accordance with Faculty/College requirements and obtain the following:
  • GCE Advanced Level
    Minimum requirements for BA (Hons) Applied Psychology:
    B B C
  • GCE AS Level/GCSE Level
    Minimum required Grade C in GCSE English and one other language​

Additional Requirements
  • One passport-size photo
  • Birth certificate or photo page of passport
  • IELTS or TOEFL score for applicants whose first language is not English
  • School Leaving Examination Certificate or High School Transcript (including predicted grades if final results are not available)
  • SAT 1 or ACT scores (for US applicants)
  • Third Level Academic Transcript and Proof of Final Degree (if applicable)
  • Statement of purpose (max. 500 words)

    An average score of 6.5 across all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band for the Academic version

    Minimum score of 90 for the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with a minimum of 20 in each section
