Overview

University College Dublin, one of Europe’s leading research-intensive universities, is the largest higher education provider in Ireland with a campus area of 133 hectares. Initially, it was known as the Catholic University of Ireland, which later changed into Royal University. Eventually, in 1908, it got its present name. UCD has made substantial contributions to the creation of modern Ireland. Moreover, many UCD students played a part in the Irish independence movement.
