Course Description

  • This 90 credit taught MSc program provides an ideal foundation for anybody wishing to pursue a career in biomedical research or a field that requires an understanding of research techniques and the scientific method
  • The program features a balance of laboratory-based practical modules and modules relating to cutting edge techniques, data analysis, scientific writing and communication, innovation, ethics, and integrity
  • Students develop their knowledge-base and skills under the guidance of internationally renowned experts, through one-to-one teaching sessions in active research laboratory settings
  • Alongside mastering common laboratory techniques (such as Western blotting, cell culture, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry) students will learn how to appropriately apply these techniques to address research questions
  • This program is highly beneficial in preparing students who plan to pursue a research degree, with 75% of graduates from this course going on to pursue PhD programs at UCD
