Located at the heart of London, Birbeck is a major associate college of the University of London. Established in 1823, it used to be London Mechanic’s Institute. Later in 1920, it became a college under the University of London. It is the only public institution in London to provide major evening classes.
The campus lies in the Bloomsbury area of London, known as a major student spot. The surrounding area contains several famous museums and galleries. The areas of West End, Soho, Covent Garden, and King’s Cross are also nearby. Students get easy access to explore and learn from these.
There are five academic schools containing 19 departments. Birkbeck offers various courses including evening classes, part-time and online lectures.
