Course Description

  • One of Kent’s leading programs, the MA in Architecture and Urban Design combines architectural history and theory with the study of the contemporary city to provide a dynamic understanding of architecture and urban design
  • This cross-cultural and interdisciplinary program lets students draw from the wider context of humanities, cultural studies, the visual arts, drama, film, and other media that influence the formation of an urban landscape
  • The curriculum includes four core modules, namely Urban Landscape, Research Methods and Analysis, Theory and History of Urban Design, and the Dissertation
  • Students choose from a wide range of optional courses including Urban Design Project, Gothic Art and Architecture, and Marlowe, Shakespeare and Early Modern France
  • Graduates of this program go on to work professionally as architects, urban designers, surveyors, historians, landscape architects, theorists, and engineers as well as to pursue higher studies and academic careers

  • A first or good second class honors degree (or the equivalent) in Architecture or another related discipline in Humanities, Planning or similar
