Course Description

  • One of Kent’s advanced professional development programs, the MA in Autism Studies involves distance learning and/or study workshops
  • Delivered by the Tizard Center, this program aims to find a more effective support policy for people with learning disabilities as well as to help carers, managers, and professionals to develop values, knowledge, and skills
  • Coursework is taught through a mixture of web-based resources, directed reading, videos, lectures, seminars, and practical sessions, supported by several workshops, where students work with skilled professionals and have the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with fellow students
  • The curriculum provides several compulsory modules which include Research Methods, Behavior Analysis and Intervention, Social Psychology of Autism, Research Project in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and Case Study Assessment and Intervention
  • Required taught modules are assessed by a computer-based exam and an extended essay and the Research Methods module involves short assignments and a worked problem
