Overview

The University of St. Andrews came into being in 1413. It is the first university in Scotland. It is also the third oldest in the English- speaking world. Four faculties offer 149 undergraduate and 52 postgraduate courses. Three main campus areas consist of 36 academic buildings. As of 2020-21, this institution has 10,119 students in total. These include 7,985 undergraduate students and 2,133 postgraduate students. International students cover 45% of the total student body.
This university has 15 halls around the campus areas. They offer a variety of housing options with more than 4,000 bed spaces. Private housing is also available in nearby areas. All first-year undergraduate students get housing benefits from the university.
International undergraduate students apply through UCAS, common application, and direct application. The postgraduate application differs a bit. The university accepts A level and International Baccalaureate with other tests. Tests to prove English skills include IELTS, TOEFL iBT, and others. The university website lists them in a specific way.
Students receive many scholarships as well. Some of them are BA International Honors Scholarship, Cheng Scholarship, International Undergraduate Scholarship.
The university has 150 student societies. It has 50 sports clubs and 100 sports teams. It ranked #1 in Scotland for leading research. With a 92.7% satisfaction rate, the University of St. Andrews is one of the leading institutions in the world.

Standard Qualifications:

  • A-Level: ABB to A*A*A
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): 36 (HL 6,5,5) to 38 (HL 6,6,6 plus SL 6,6,6). From 2021, programs requiring A-levels Mathematics will accept either Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or
  • Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation at higher level.
  • Cambridge Pre-U ( A-Levels equivalencies):
    • For Grade:
    • A* at A-Level: D2 in the Pre-U Principal Subject is required
    • A at A-Level: D3 in the Pre-U Principal Subject is required
    • B at A-Level: M1 in the Pre-U Principal Subject is required

Language Requirements:
The university accepts IELTS (Academic), TOEFL iBT, Cambridge, LanguageCert International ESOL, PTE Academic, PSI Skills for English UKVI, and Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE).
