Oklahoma City University or OCU for short is a private owned university that started off as something different. It was founded by local developer Anton Classen in the early 1900s, specifically 1904. In its earliest known stages it was named Epworth College and then renamed to the Methodist University of Oklahoma in 1911. The university is located in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma and follows a religious affiliation with the United Methodist Church. It has an urban campus covering a wide area of 104 acre's. Oklahoma City University boasts the title of the only university in the city to be in the top of the regional, masters-level university category
OCU offers its students a wide variety of undergraduate degrees. It offers degrees in bachelor courses along with masters and doctorates. Undergraduates can choose from more than 70 majors whereas graduates have the option of 20 majors. PhD courses are also available to students regarding the subjects of law, nursing. The nursing PhD is offered through the Kramer School of Nursing. As a private university, OCU has more than 1700 students in the undergraduate department along with 600 or more students in graduate programs. The university has an established and successful alumni network with big names such as Emmy Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth along with Miss America of 1996 Shawntel Smith
The school environment can be considered as motivating and enriching for the students at OCU. Culture plays a big part at OCU with plays being held along with operas and concerts. If you're lucky you might also get to experience seminars by popular individuals visiting the campus. Business leaders from all over the world show up to enlighten the youth of today with their experiences. OCU has 60 student organizations with a wide variety of interests ranging from political to religious. The school also has a wellness program promoting physical health with activities including yoga and pilates. You can take part in 35 different sports with both co-ed and single gender teams
