Located in Norfolk, Virginia, Old Dominion University is a doctoral research institute. The university has been serving as a place of learning for 92 years. It was founded by the College of William and Mary in 1930. The university was then later renamed to Old Dominion College in 1962. Along with being a public university, it is also regarded as the second oldest education center in the United States. It has a total enrollment of about 726 international students per year. The university covers a wide area with four campuses, with a total range of 335 acres in size.
In terms of learning, Old Dominion University has a lot to offer for students looking to complete their higher studies. It offers doctoral degrees, education specialist degrees, masters and graduate certificates through a single graduate school. Students looking to get into the public university can choose to get their education from eight colleges. There's the Perry Honors College which offers honor courses, the College of Health Science which has both graduate and undergraduate courses, The Batten College Of Engineering And Technology which offers the same as the prior along with minors and graduate certificates. You also have the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies which has certificate programs along with graduate and undergraduate programs.
Old Dominion University has garnered a large student body with a total of more than 24,000 students. It consists of a huge Library which boasts over three million physical books for students to browse through along with thousands of online research papers and journals. It has a large number of university faculty and the numbers go into the 900 range with a ratio of 17:1. The faculty has earned 35 awards from the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia. ODU also offers excellent extra curricular activities with 18 varsity sports. The university's sports teams are also included in the Conference USA (C-USA), Big East, and American Athletics Conference (ACC). If you want to work alongside your studies then don't worry. Students with a visa are offered the chance to work 20 hours per week during the term and 40 hours per week during break.
