Course Description
- The Masters of Translation and Interpreting Studies is designed to meet the needs of proficient bilinguals who aim to work as professional translators and interpreters
- Students will study the skills and knowledge required to perform translating and interpreting in a range of institutional settings common to community and commercial translating and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas
- The course focuses on the acquisition and application of theoretical knowledge relevant to translating and interpreting practice required in the profession
- Students are required to design and implement a research project and execute practicum projects with our industry partners in a variety of settings
- This degree is suitable for those:
- interested in becoming a professional translator or interpreter
- who wish to further develop translation and interpreting skills while acquiring a master degree

Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
For 1.5 years (full-time, or equivalent duration if available part-time):
- AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognized equivalent; or AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognized equivalent with one of:
- Performance in their non-related bachelor's degree of an MQ equivalent WAM of +65, or
- A recognized professional qualification in translation or interpreting, or
- One year (full-time equivalent) approved work experience
- Proficiency in one of the available languages, and
- For students whose first language is English, completion of an admission assessment
